Reset your password
Set a new password when you have forgotten yours, or set your first one.
Before you start
Anyone with an Anchor sign-in can do this, signed in or not. It also works for an account that has never had a password, such as one that joined by invitation.
You need access to the inbox of the email address you sign in with.
Your new password must be at least 10 characters.
Steps
1. On the sign-in page, press "Set or reset your password". If you are already in Account Settings, press "Forgot your current password?" instead. Both open a page headed "Set or reset your password".
2. Type your email into "Email address" and press "Send password link". The form is replaced by a panel headed "Check your email".
3. Open the email from Anchor and press its link. A page opens headed "Set a new password".
4. Press "Choose a new password". This signs you in and opens a page headed "Choose a new password".
5. Type the new password into "New password" and again into "Confirm new password".
6. Press "Save password" within 15 minutes of step 4. You are taken into Anchor.
How to know it worked
You land on your usual first screen inside Anchor, already signed in.
From now on you can sign in with your email and the new password. The email link still works too, through "Sign in with an email link instead".
If something goes wrong
The "Check your email" panel reads the same for every address, so it does not confirm that yours has an account. If no email arrives, check the address you typed.
If the password page reads "This link has expired", press "Request a new link" and start again. Password links work once and only for a short time.
The new password page is good for 15 minutes after you press the button in step 4. After that, saving can ask for your current password, and reopening the page takes you to Account Settings. Request a new link and save the password straight away.
If the two passwords do not match, or the password is shorter than 10 characters, the page says so and saves nothing.
